Welcome to Nightingale Class

Hello, I’m Miss Cain and I am so excited to be joining Sandhurst Primary School as the Year 1 teacher.

I have spent the past three years working in a primary school, where I gained lots of experience supporting children as they learnt, grew, and discovered new things.

I have a degree in Fashion, and I love bringing my creativity into the classroom and finding fun, engaging and imaginative ways to support learning.

I particularly enjoy taking learning outdoors and creating opportunities for children to explore, investigate and learn through hands-on experiences. I am passionate about encouraging curiosity, confidence and, most importantly, a lifelong love of learning.

Most of all, I am really looking forward to getting to know all the children and families and making lots of happy memories together in Year 1!

Our Class Name

Florence Nightingale (12 May 1820 – 13 August 1910), was an English nurse. She helped create the modern techniques of nursing. She became a leader of the team of nurses who helped wounded soldiers during the Crimean War.

She was the first female to receive the Order of Merit, the highest honour awarded to a British person. As a nurse she was given the name ‘The Lady with the Lamp’ because at night, she checked on the wounded soldiers and always carried ‘The Lamp’ with her.
