Welcome to Nightingale Class

Hello, I am Mrs Player and I have been teaching at Sandhurst Primary since 2019. I like to approach everyday with a sense of nurture and calm and feel it is important for children to feel enthusiastic about coming into our classroom. I like to bring a fresh and dynamic way of teaching into the classroom that will enable all children to get the most out of their time at school. I encourage kindness, respect and community in our classroom.

I am passionate about providing children with a rounded experience of their learning and will organise interactive or outdoor lessons where possible. I like to provide opportunities to enhance learning experiences such as cooking or nature walks to our woodland.

My favourite subjects to teach are English, Art and History. I also love to bring opportunities for drama and social interaction into all subjects.

Our Class Name

Florence Nightingale (12 May 1820 – 13 August 1910), was an English nurse. She helped create the modern techniques of nursing. She became a leader of the team of nurses who helped wounded soldiers during the Crimean War.

She was the first female to receive the Order of Merit, the highest honour awarded to a British person. As a nurse she was given the name ‘The Lady with the Lamp’ because at night, she checked on the wounded soldiers and always carried ‘The Lamp’ with her.
