Parent Governor
Sophia was elected as a Parent Governor in Spring 2025. She has one child and a nephew at Sandhurst Primary School. Two more of her nephews also attended the school and have moved on to their senior schools.
Sophia believes that our local schools are at the heart of our local communities and that supporting them and ensuring they are the best they can be is vitally important for our children, their parents and carers, our community and our wider society.
In her last job role Sophia was the CEO of a large charity and as part of that role she managed the operational relationship with the co-ed school of over 600 pupils based on the charity’s site. Sophia had weekly meetings with the school’s Headmaster to understand current risks, school strategy and direction, and collaborate on projects which required the charity’s inputs. She also attended some the school’s Board of Governors’ meetings and had fortnightly meetings with the school’s Chief Operating Officer and was a member of the joint charity and school Safeguarding Committee. Sophia was responsible for overseeing the leasing of the charity’s buildings, land and housing to the school within the charity’s estate and the maintenance and repair of the extensive property portfolio.
Sophia is delighted to be able to support the Chair of Governors at Sandhurst Primary School by being a part of the Governing Board and helping to fulfil the Board’s very important role.
